Homebaked

Project type: films, websites, training/consultancy

‘Brick by brick, loaf by loaf’ is an ethos that struck a chord with us. We’re as passionate about football – and pies – as we are about our work, so we were aware of Homebaked before we had the privilege of working with them. (In fact, we based a spaces tour for BICo around Homebaked’s pies, long before we got to know them properly…)

Located in the shadow of Anfield Stadium, Homebaked was established for a multitude of reasons. Initially an artist-led project as part of the Biennial, it quickly came to symbolise people in the area taking back their identity, and provide training and job opportunities for local residents –alongside making some top-notch pies in the process.

As we got to know the team better, we covered Homebaked’s work through one of our Ethos films, and the relationship grew from there.

We supervised and produced the build of a new Homebaked website – a showcase for its award-winning baked goods, but also a platform to outline the difference made to Anfield in just a few short years. We also acted in a consultancy role, training some of Homebaked’s young employees in how to effectively continue the story of Homebaked through storytelling, photography, and social media.
