The first special edition from Ethos, People Power kept us ridiculously busy between Ethos issues one and two. Promoting and highlighting ideas and innovation from community businesses, it had ordinary people at the heart.

We worked in partnership with Liverpool community bakery Homebaked, supported by Power To Change, creating People Power specifically for a community business event. The Empowering Places Programme brought together a contingent of community organisations from across the UK and Europe to share their experiences of running community businesses.

We were commissioned to create People Power to not only commemorate the event, but also to spread the work of these great community initiatives far and wide, for those who couldn’t attend.

Starting with Liverpool’s community heroes, including Homebaked, Granby Four Streets and Kitty’s Launderette, we covered stories from Repowering London – a community-run energy co-operative, to communities in Luton, Hull, and Röstånga, Sweden, fighting to effect change from the ground up.
